Law # 7
Gifts
God has created each person differently. Each
has different strengths and different weaknesses. What works for one may not
work for another. To succeed we need to discover the gifts that God has given
us and use them as God intended.
When an eagle tries to swim with a bunch of fish
it will always be a failure. When it starts to fly, however, (which is what God
designed it to do), it will be extremely successful. When we try to live like
others with gifts that are not our own, we struggle and stumble. When we
discover our own gifts and do what God designed us to do we soar like eagles.
Wisdom requires that we learn to recognize and appreciate these differences in
other people. No one is “better” than anyone else, but there is no denying that
we are “different” and certainly better in specific areas than others. The
ideal situation is where people work together fully recognizing and appreciating
the different gifts of the others. Here people can compensate for others and
contribute in their area of strength and make a whole which is much greater than
the sum of it’s parts. Disasters occur when one individual or type tries to
insist that everyone else do things just as they do. They try to make eagles
and wildcats swim, or dogs and cats fly. This leads to resentment, fights and
overall failure.
